Season Two of the Ellipsis Lecture Series featured speakers—Designer Édouard Urcades, Photographer Emily Keegin, and Artist Zak Jensen—offered compelling perspectives at the intersection of art, culture, and design. From reimagining the personal computer to crafting narratives through editorial photography, and creating playful, critical investigations of perception, each speaker shared insights that resist rigid categorization and reflect the nuances of contemporary culture.

Édouard Urcades
Currently Edouard is interested in the fundamental redefinition of the personal computer, the synthesis of digital bodies, while working on that and other interesting futures at Tlon Corporation. Previously, Edouard worked for Samara–Airbnb, Tumblr, IBM, and others doing a variety of product designs of varying scales.

Emily Keegin
Her background is in magazines & editorial photography, beginning at TIME in 2005. She was the deputy photo director of Bloomberg Businessweek from 2012-14 and the Director of Photography at The Fader from 2014–2019 and No Mans Land Magazine from 2016–2020. Emily Keegin holds a BA in photography from Bennington College and an MA in Fine Art Photography from The Royal College of Art.

Zak Jensen
As a creative director and graphic designer, he recently established Business Name, a creative company working with thoughtful people on uncommon ideas, objects, and experiences. Until 2022, he led the Harvard Art Museums museums’ graphic design department and was responsible for the maintenance and evolution of the museums’ brand identity as well as the creative direction and design of all publications, signage, advertising, and other print and digital communications. Before that, he worked as a designer in various contexts on branding, publishing, and product development projects.
As an educator, he’s taught, visited, and spoken at various universities. In 2023 he was appointed Assistant Professor (Lecturer) at the University of Utah, where he teaches in the School of Fine arts.
Zak holds a BFA from the University of Utah, an MFA from the Yale School of Art, and currently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah.
